I’m doing a 5K in Regents Park in October to raise money for target ovarian cancer charity. I was doing really well and running regularly but it’s dropped off in recent weeks due to holiday and then a cold. Your post helps to motivate me to get back into it and to remember not to let the best be the enemy of the good.
Well done you doing a half marathon , that’s way beyond my league!
Really good advice to not let perfect be the enemy of good! A good run is just as good as a perfect one (if there’s such a thing!) and any run is better than none 💪
Oh, I love the idea of "soft victories"! Our wins don't have to be loud and hard and full of muscle-popping postures. There are some wins we can snuggle into and hold tight.
I go for a very short run (5/10) minutes every morning and have done this for 20 years (minus pregnancies and postpartum). It is so ingrained - and short - that I don’t even think about whether I want to or not, it just happens. But I love the morning air, getting my heart going and ‘escaping’ (running away, briefly). So, I would say: keep going, and one day you may well like it more xx
Ps. When I first got into running, it burnt my lungs and felt very hard and a bit awkward. I think that changes over time, too, which helps x
This post makes me really look forward to getting out for a run once the chemo is finished! I really got into running in my 20s and have gradually lapsed but will defo get back into it…. So funny how you crave things so much more when you can’t have them 🏃♀️

This is so true! Sending loads of love and strength for the rest of your treatment 💪
Thanks so much Rosamund! Xxx
My friend is a runner and has this feeling.. I have yet to experience it but the clothes and shoes do make a difference!
They do! It's like I find a nice notebook helps with work. Nice things do make a difference
