After writing about fibre last week, I’ve had many messages (OK, a few, but I think they’re representative) asking me to address IBS. Irritable bowel syndrome. Bloating. Gas. Wind. That uncomfortable feeling is sadly very familiar to many people.

You’ll even find people who say they struggle to get enough fibre in their diet because of intolerances. To this, I would say it’s extremely rare to be intolerant to vegetables. When it comes to grains, if you’ve been eating a highly processed diet, then you’ll need to build up whole grains slowly, as your gut may react if not accustomed to breaking them down.

I’m a bit obsessed with the whole conversation around food intolerances. Particularly as it seems you can actually give yourself an intolerance by cutting something…
