There are people that love the concept of a digital detox, and people that hate it. Predictably (and probably like most people) I’m somewhere in the middle.
I love the idea of a summer off social media, and a decent break from my inbox. But, realistically, there’s going to be a picture that I can’t resist posting on Instagram, and actually I often find it more stressful to not check emails than to check them while on holiday (anyone relate? My brain imagines the worst case scenario when I don’t know that everything’s actually fine).
But with a recent report on ‘digital amnesia’ being just one of the terrifying headlines about the damage that being permanently online causes our brains, I think it’s time for a break. Particularly as the internet has felt like a darker place recently.
