Big September Energy is everywhere right now.

Routines, schedules, sensible clothes… there is very much a sense that we should all be Getting Our Shit Together this month.

There are certainly benefits to the promise of a clean slate. It can help you feel motivated and focused. And many argue that the crisp back-to-school vibe of September makes for a better fresh start than the skint, hungover vibes of January. (I’d be inclined to agree, except that it does tend to start with endless bloody inset days.)

So what if, for whatever reason, September’s energy is not working for you this year? Perhaps you got ill after your holiday, or a big work project fell through, or you failed to sort adequate afrerschool clubs and now have fewer working hours that you’re used to (it me).

Getting your “fresh start” off on the wrong foot can feel as though you missed the starting pistol and everyone else is already halfway around the track.
