A 'mini retirement' might actually be just what you need
Last week, a video went viral of footballer-turned-pundit Gary Neville appearing on Steven Bartlett’s Diary of a CEO podcast. In it, he talked about retirement. At 48, he is not prepared to sit back and count his millions as some former footballers do (and who can blame them?). In fact, he still feels driven and motivated to work hard at his various business ventures, and can’t see himself properly retiring at all. Instead, he explained, he takes ‘mini retirements’ throughout the year.
Social media erupted with hilarity at the idea that Gary Neville had just discovered what a holiday is.
The video was actually recorded last August but picked up traction months later, as these things sometimes do. Here, Gary gave an example of one of his mini retirements:
