Having been in health care for decades I totally agree that different things work for different folks. While there is definitely a time for a bubble bath and Netflix they are not that effective at bringing one closer to well-being in the big picture.
I think we are at a time in history where we will have the tools to peel away the layers of life, (guilt, cultural conditioning, generational trauma and other fun things) to a life of greater well-being and meaning. We need community to do this, which is what you are creating Rosamund so thank you!
Also, I appreciate the recommendations and look forward to checking out Well, Actually... by Lauren Clark, as well as Dr Lakshmin's book.
It’s not totes mad, there r small studies out there on severe covid patients who responded well to rectal ozone insufflation. The link to one or two is in my substack. I maybe read them wrong but GP has long covid and this was part of the treatment for that I believe.
I’m sure someone’s saved it somewhere but GP did an AMA on her Instagram and was asked about the response to the podcast and she gave a pretty balanced response about it not being how she eats/lives all the time and to be fair I thought she came across quite well on the podcast. She’s definitely into some weird stuff but seems to have some humour around it.
I love your line here about if it feels like hard work then it isn’t wellness - sums up exactly what I’ve only recently (aged 45) realised, I’m never ever going to enjoy running or meditating but I do truly love Pilates, spin and cooking/eating healthy delicious food - time to focus on the things that truly make me feel better rather than trying to force the things that don’t
Well said!

LOVE the definition that "anything that feels like ‘work’ is not self-care". Will be reminding myself of this!
We ALL need that reminder

Interesting! This was clearly not in any of the hysterical pieces I read about it
I’m not a GP apologist but I think there’s a bit more to it in this case tho I may be wrong
